We believe that as with education, healthcare, and other basic services, the quality of policing should be as good in our nation’s most distressed neighborhoods as it is in our most affluent ones. Remembering Prof. Anders Ericsson

Polis Solutions mourns the tragic loss of our friend and mentor, Prof. Anders Ericsson, who died yesterday. Prof. Ericsson's intellect was matched only by his idealism, integrity, and generosity. He was internationally renowned for his work on deliberate practice and expertise, which is best known via the popular idea of the "10,000 hour rule." Prof. Ericsson inspired us to apply his ideas to police training, and was excited by the prospect that his research could help save lives and improve police-community trust.
