Polis Solutions Awarded DOJ Grant to Develop National Defense Tactics Program

Polis Solutions was recently awarded $750,000 by the US DOJ Bureau of Justice Assistance under the National Officer Safety Initiatives (NOSI) program to evaluate, update, and improve defensive tactics training for state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies and training academies. Polis will work closely with selected agencies and academies to evaluate existing defensive tactics training, and based on this evaluation will develop a model defensive tactics training program that law enforcement agencies can implement nationwide. The new model program will be called Adaptive Defensive and Protective Tactics (ADAPT). The name “ADAPT” reflects the idea that the foundation of officer safety is the ability to adapt rapidly and decisively to dynamic circumstances and conditions. ADAPT will systematically integrate data from the latest research and operational data on police decision-making, use of force, officer injuries and fatalities, officer safety, human performance, physiology and kinesiology, and a host of related topics. ADAPT will be designed to integrate within the defensive tactics and officer safety training program of any sized agency.
